DEMOTION

  • First unplaced – No deduction, Second unp. – 3 points, Third unp. – 3 points, Fourth unp. – 4 points – then demoted subject to their rating.
  • Any Class 7 ponies request for demotion will be subjected to re-measurement and only ponies measuring below 56″ are allowed to be demoted to Class 8 or Class 9.
  • Any ponies demoted from the higher class shall carry top weight in the lower Class and can be used as reserves if there are more than 16 entries.
  • Final Ratings will be at the Handicapper’s discretion.

PROMOTION

  • If a pony/horse is placed at his/her first start, there will be no penalty given.
  • Placed ponies cannot be promoted to the next Class until he/she wins that class.
  • Ponies with a top or near top Rating in any of the 10 Classes have the right to race in the next higher Class where their Rating is included in that Class e.g. A Pony with a rating of 30 (Class 8) carrying 58kg has the right to enter Class 7 with the same Rating 30, but will carry the lighter weight of 52 or 53 kg. This will give the Owner/Trainer the option to race in whichever race he chooses, provided this is done before the Barrier Draw. (This ruling will not be applied on Cup races).
  • If a Class 1 Pony has a Rating of 100 and above, he/she must race in Class ‘C’
  • If a Class ‘C’ Thoroughbred has a 0 rating, he/she will race in Class I with Top Weight and Rating.

NEW PONIES

  • All new Ponies must be measured before they can race. All ponies measuring 56″ or more will race in Class 6 with a Rating of 45.
  • All new Ponies measuring under 56″ will first race in Class 10 (at the Handicapper’s discretion).
  • All Horses measuring 62″ or more will race in Class C.
